How to Improve Your English

How can you improve your language skills in a short period of time? Most international students struggle with learning English when they start. As any language, English needs time and patience to master it. There are a few steps that may help and guide you to climb the ladder of success in English.

First of all, choosing a professional institute such as the ELI (The English Language Institute) is an important step to start. As ESL students, we need to live in an English environment, which the ELI offers, where we use our four skills- speaking, listening, writing, and reading- on a daily basis. For me, I have been here at the ELI since January 2013 and I have noticed a massive improvement in my English skills. Therefore, picking a sophisticated institute is a significant step to begin with.

Second, setting aside time for studying every day is an essential factor to succeed. As soon as you start your English classes, you have to manage your time between studying and having fun. You must work hard in both the ELI and home. Four to six hours daily is pretty adequate to strengthen your English. Consequently, working at home and at the ELI will give you fruitful results.

Third, attending classes has an obvious impact on your performance. Your instructors’ job is to facilitate your understanding of the hard chapters. Furthermore, they hint on the important parts of the curriculum during class. So, I strongly recommend that you attend classes because it helps you to improve your English and it shows how disciplined you are.

To conclude, choosing a professional institute, studying diligently, and attending classes are the most effective steps that you need to master English in a short period of time. Even if your English now is very basic, remember it will get better sooner when you do those steps.
